Teaching Assistant Opportunities

Academic Transition Programs Teaching Assistant 2 (TA2)

Reporting to the Academic Transition Programs Coordinator, the Academic Transition Programs Teaching Assistants (TA2) provide direct support to the students attending the Academic Transition Programs. The TAs are responsible for marking the SSW ACT course assignments, facilitating weekly in-person assignment development sessions, and meeting with students during drop-in hours and one-on-one meetings to provide them with assignment feedback, guidance, and academic advice.
          
  • Facilitate weekly in-person assignment development sessions;
  • Monitor and respond to student emails;
  • Mentor students who have experienced difficulty in University, in groups and one-on-one;
  • Provide students with feedback, in person and through assignments;
  • Provide guidance and advice to students on on-campus and off-campus supports;
  • Monitor, record, and report on students’ development and progress;
  • Communicate and consult with the Academic Transition Programs Coordinator and Advisors to advise students;
  • Admin responsibilities such as updating databases, phoning potential students, and tracking students’ progress; and,
  • Other duties as assigned.
