University of Regina Learning Assistance Programs Mission Statement and Learning Outcomes

Our mission is to support and enhance the educational mission of the University of Regina by providing
accessible, student focused services which contribute to the success of students as they strive to achieve their personal, academic and professional goals.  Through the development of partnerships with students, faculty and academic and service units, our Learning Assistance Programs aim to facilitate the successful transition of students into the post-secondary learning environment, assist students to develop the self-discipline and self-awareness required to become independent learners and critical thinkers, enhance opportunities for student learning and development through the provision of innovative programs and services, and ensure that students have access to resources that will aid them in achieving academic success.  Our programs serve diverse student needs and are available to new and current students in all undergraduate programs of studies at the University of Regina.

Through participation in Learning Assistance Programs at the University of Regina, students should:

  • Learn to assess, articulate and acknowledge their personal skills, abilities and areas requiring development
  • Utilize the knowledge gained through participation in the various programs to develop their ability to think creatively and critically and to reflect on their learning
  • Successfully implement the acquired skills and knowledge in order to effect positive change in study habits, personal growth and academic performance
  • Demonstrate a high level of self-awareness and the ability to take responsibility for their actions
  • Understand the different types of supports available to students at the University of Regina and
  • when to access them
  • Know how to set and pursue personal and educational goals, both short and long-term
