What is the Bachelor of Social Work – Bilingual Option?
This four-year undergraduate degree is accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE), meaning your degree is recognized across Canada. You will gain the knowledge and skills for generalist social work practice, with a significant portion of your courses delivered in French. You will build confidence working in bilingual settings while preparing to serve communities across Saskatchewan.
Our Bilingual BSW program is generalist in approach and focused on the Saskatchewan context. You will be prepared to work in urban, rural, and remote communities with diverse individuals, families, and groups facing a wide range of circumstances.
You will study social work theory, policy, research, and practice while gaining practical experience through two supervised practicums before you graduate. The program uses a strengths-based model of social work practice and teaches you a range of approaches, including assessment, intervention, and connecting clients to available resources.
Through this program, you will develop skills to counsel individuals and facilitate groups, analyze social programs and policy, develop and administer social programs, empower community groups, manage stress and conflict, conduct social research and write organized reports, critically analyze complex issues from multiple perspectives, and generate and implement problem-solving strategies.
