This program is perfect if you want to build a career in social work serving bilingual or Francophone communities in Saskatchewan and beyond.

What is the Bachelor of Social Work – Bilingual Option?

This four-year undergraduate degree is accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE), meaning your degree is recognized across Canada. You will gain the knowledge and skills for generalist social work practice, with a significant portion of your courses delivered in French. You will build confidence working in bilingual settings while preparing to serve communities across Saskatchewan.

Our Bilingual BSW program is generalist in approach and focused on the Saskatchewan context. You will be prepared to work in urban, rural, and remote communities with diverse individuals, families, and groups facing a wide range of circumstances.

You will study social work theory, policy, research, and practice while gaining practical experience through two supervised practicums before you graduate. The program uses a strengths-based model of social work practice and teaches you a range of approaches, including assessment, intervention, and connecting clients to available resources.

Through this program, you will develop skills to counsel individuals and facilitate groups, analyze social programs and policy, develop and administer social programs, empower community groups, manage stress and conflict, conduct social research and write organized reports, critically analyze complex issues from multiple perspectives, and generate and implement problem-solving strategies.

Can I enter this program straight from high school?

Yes, you can! You’ll need to meet the domestic or international high school admission requirements for the Faculty of Social Work.

Do I need to show proof of French proficiency?
Yes. You must show proof of English and French proficiency through standard language tests or a written assessment through La Cité. If you graduated from a Fransaskois high school or a French immersion program, you have already met the French requirement.
When can I start the program?
There is one intake each year, meaning students can start the program in the fall semester only.
Can I switch to the English BSW program later?
You can apply to switch through the regular Bachelor of Social Work application process.
What are the tuition costs?
