Physical Geography

Note: This program is not accepting new students. Please refer to the BSc in Geography & Environmental Studies.

Physical Geography - a component of the Earth Sciences - is the study of the natural processes that occur at, and above, the surface of the Earth.  It is defined by the four "spheres" of our planet: the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and lithosphere. Physical geographers study: weather, climate, and climate change; lakes, rivers, and streams; erosion and deposition; landforms and soils; deserts, glaciers, and ice sheets; and ecosystems.  In particular, physical geographers are concerned about how the natural environment influences human activities and how human activities affect the natural environment.

Students pursuing studies in Physical Geography at the University of Regina can work toward the following degrees:

* Graduates with a Bsc in Geography and Geology from the University of Regina may apply to the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan for registration as a Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo).
