The program runs from 2 weeks - there are 3 different date options July 27 to August 7, August 10 -21 and August 17 – 28, 2020. Students are required to be in attendance from the first day of classes to the last day of exams, and must attend all Orientation/Welcome, Opening/Closing Ceremony and field trip events that are pre-planned by the Host University.

Registration for this program is by selection process only. Please DO NOT make any travel arrangements or book any flights until AFTER your acceptance to participate in the program has been confirmed.

A maximum of 10 students will be approved to participate in this program.

The requirements to participate are as follows:

  • students must be in the Paul J. Hill School of Business as of Winter 2020
  • students must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours prior to the Study Abroad program, and must be in a minimum of 9 credit hours (or a Co-op workterm) for Winter 2020.
  • students must have a minimum GPA of 70% at time of application (averages between 68 and 69.99% may be considered, providing space is available)
  • students must be in good standing at the UofR - both academically and financially (not negotiable/no exceptions)
  • preference will be given to students who have space within their degree/diploma programs for transfer credit for the courses to be taken in England (students who hope to take the program as "extra" credit (i.e., not transferrable to their program) may be considered, providing space is available)
  • students must return to the UofR for at least one course in a semester following the Study Abroad program
  • students must meet with Wendy Tebb to discuss how/if courses will transfer into their Hill degree or diploma program (students are advised to do this before applying to for any Study Abroad program).

The cost of the above program would normally be $2,200 Cdn (payable at the UofR as a program fee attached to the required SEP course registration). This program fee covers – 1 course at York, 13 nights accommodation in York, breakfast and lunch daily, afternoon activities and airport transfers.

For 2020 only, a participation fee of $400 (in lieu of tuition) will be charged to your student account at the UofR; the non-tuition program fees (1300£) for this pilot program will be paid on your behalf by the UR International Study Abroad Global Experience Fund (in lieu of regular scholarship funding. No additional funding will be paid to you for summer programs).

Additional meals, flights, health insurance and other travel expenses are not included; students are responsible for booking and paying for their own flights and making their own arrangements as needed. All students will be required to travel on the same flights to take advantage of the airport transfers. After students have been accepted, we will help coordinate travel plans.

Students will take 1 courses during this 2-week program. Students would receive transfer credit for 1 course in their BBA or DipBA program, providing appropriate grades are achieved.
