Levene MBA Admission Information

Applicants must comply with the admission standards of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) with the following additions (where applicable):

  1. Applicants are required to possess a four-year undergraduate degree with a minimum acceptable grade point average equivalent to Canadian 70%.
  2. Applicants are normally required to have at least three years of full-time work experience.
      • Experience must be obtained after completion of undergraduate degree
      • Internships, work placements and Co-Operative Education placements will not be considered as valid experience
  3. International applicants must submit proof of English proficiency if the language of instruction in their undergraduate degree was not English.
      • Minimum required TOEFL score is 580 paper-based / 80 internet-based
      • See the FGSR website for minimum required scores for subsections of the TOEFL and on other language tests
  4. A minimum GMAT score of 500 is normally required.
      • Students who successfully complete the Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Foundations will not be required to submit the results of an additional GMAT.
  5. Applicants must have successfully completed the Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Foundations with a minimum GPA of 70%. The Levene Post-Graduate Diploma consists of five graduate courses (15 credit hours).

    OR Applicants can choose to complete each of the following ten undergraduate qualifying courses (30 credit hours) with at least 70% in EACH course:
          1. BUS 210 - Introduction to Marketing
          2. BUS 250 - Introduction to Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations
          3. BUS 260 - Introduction to Organizational Behaviour
          4. BUS 285 - Introduction to Financial Accounting
          5. BUS 288 - Introduction to Managerial Accounting
          6. BUS 290 - Introduction to Finance
          7. ECON 201 - Microeconomics
          8. ECON 202 - Macroeconomics
          9. STAT 100 - Elementary Statistics for Applications
          10. One additional undergraduate course - please refer to Course Descriptions on the Hill School of Business website.

* Applicants with an undergraduate degree in business with a GPA of 70% can "Fast Track" directly into the Levene MBA without completing the Post-Grad Diploma.

Note: Meeting these minimum requirements is not a guarantee of acceptance into the program.

Advanced Standing

Advanced Standing is awarded to a student upon demonstration of acquired knowledge of a course's content through university or professional courses. The student is given advanced standing but this does not reduce the number of credit hours or fees required by an existing program. Students are registered in an Advanced Standing section and charged the associated tuition and fees.

Up to 9 credit hours of advanced standing will be offered to holders of the following designations:

  • CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant)
  • CA (Chartered Accountant)
  • CGA (Certified General Accountant)
  • CMA (Certified Management Accountant)
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)

Direxion Leadership Development Program (The Canada School of Public Service)

  • Students who receive Advanced Standing for the Direxion designation may not receive credit for GBUS/MBA 817 or MBA 760.
  • Students who receive Advanced Standing for the CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, or CFA designation may not receive credit for GBUS/MBA 832 or MBA 780.
  • Students who receive Advanced Standing for the CFA designation may not receive credit for GBUS/MBA 833 or 891 or MBA 790.

Up to nine credit hours of advanced standing may be offered to those who hold a Master's degree in a related area (e.g., Master of Public Administration; Master of Human Resource Management), or those who hold a Master of Business Administration from another university.

Any classes to be considered for Advanced Standing should be requested at the time of Admission or Reinstatement.

MBA Transfer Credit Policy
The transfer credit policy enables up to three courses (9 credit hours) to be transferred into the Levene MBA Program from other institutions. The courses to be transferred must be approved in advance by the Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Regina.
