Manami's Story - Academic Program

My name is Manami. I’m originally from Japan. I have found studying at ESL is so much fun and the best way to improve all of your English skills. ESL has knowledgeable teachers who are always open to helping students.

Also, I love the U of R homestay program. I found my lovely Canadian homestay family though the homestay coordinator. Some students prefer living on campus or by themselves, but I have found the homestay program is a great opportunity for all ESL students to improve their English skills and learn about Canadian culture. We can learn Academic English at ESL, but we can learn real English expressions from homestay families through daily conversations, such as slang and common English usage. Students can practice English anytime and learn a lot about Canadian people while living with them.

I highly recommend both ESL and homestay programs at U of R for students who want to study English as a second language.
