Welcome!

Welcome to the University of Regina English as a Second Language (ESL) Program.

We have ESL programs designed to prepare you for academics at a Canadian university or college, to enhance your communications at work, or to simply experience Canadian language and culture.

All English as a Second Language courses at the University of Regina for the Spring/Summer 2021 semester continue through remote delivery. You can begin your studies from home at times to suit your schedule. Remote, non-credit ESL courses can be taken without a student visa, or while yours is being processed.

There are fun, on-line cultural activities planned to introduce you to the city and help you feel at home in our university.

Come study ESL at the University of Regina, an unforgettable experience awaits you!

The amended travel restrictions to allow international students to enter Canada to Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) with approved COVID-19 readiness plans (as per the October 2, 2020 announcement) came into effect October 20, 2020. The University of Regina has been approved by the provincial and federal governments and is on the list of Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) with approved COVID-19 readiness plans. As such, the University of Regina is able to reopen to international students who are currently outside Canada.

SELF-QUARANTINE ON CAMPUS IS MANDATORY!

As per the University of Regina’s COVID-19 Readiness Plan, international students and their co-arriving immediate family members planning to travel are required to complete their mandatory 14-day self-quarantine on campus at the University of Regina. Rooms are provided with a cleaning kit for the upkeep of their room during their isolation period, and meal options are also available. Students and their co-arriving immediate family members who do not complete their mandatory 14-day quarantine on campus will be deemed not in compliance with the regulations set out in the University of Regina's COVID-19 Readiness Plan.

Please note that students and their co-arriving immediate family members who do not complete their mandatory 14-day quarantine on campus will be considered in violation and reported to the provincial and federal governments.
Consequences of non-compliance with the 14-day self-quarantine public health order may result in:
    • 6 months of jail time
    • being found inadmissible, removed from Canada and banned from entering for 1 year
