Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

The University of Regina offers free English language classes.  At the U of R you can improve your English and integrate into Canadian culture while enjoying a university atmosphere. LINC is fully funded by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).


Please note that the University of Regina Campus will remain close, and LINC program will only offers online classes.

Rajveer's Story

You are eligible for the LINC program if you:

  • are a Permanent Resident of Canada, Protected Person or Refugee,
  • are 18 years of age or older


  • Many class options to fit your schedule
  • On-campus childcare during your evening classes (*Unavailable during the pandemic)
  • Small class sizes with TESL accredited instructors
  • LINC certificate upon completion of CLB 4
  • Various fun activities and events to accelerate integration into Canadian culture


Step 1: Take the Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT)

You need to visit the Language Assessment and Referral Centre (LARC) to take a CLBPT test.

Step 2: Choose your LINC program

If you choose to join the LINC program at the University of Regina, Please chick on the link and follow up the instruction to fill up registration survey.

After completing registration survey, please email your
- PR Card, Or
- Landing Paper
Once receiving all your documents, you will be contacted by email about your registration status.
* Currently, LINC Office is temporarily closed at the University of Regina campus, but we are available through or level a voice message through (306) 585-4136


Childcare Services 

*Childcare is current unavailable because of the pandemic.

Childcare is provided on campus by Wascana Centre Daycare. Childcare is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Please be aware of the following:

  • Childcare is provided only during LINC evening classes,
  • Childcare is provided for children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years of age,
  • Students who receive childcare services are required to maintain a minimum attendance rate of 90%. 


U-pass is unavailable during the pandemic. Alternative transportation pass information can be found at the Student Union website:
