Will universities exist in 2067?

The presidents of the University of Regina, Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, and Luther College  are pleased to present the 2017-18 Forward Together lecture, (Ex)Changing Ideas for Post-Secondary Education: Will Universities Exist in 2067.  This stimulating conversation will be moderated by John Hopkins, CEO of the Regina and District Chamber of Commerce.

The 150th anniversary of Confederation is not simply an opportunity to reflect on Canada’s past; it is also a time to think about our collective future.  With that in mind, Universities Canada, the organization that represents approximately 100 post-secondary institutions in Canada, is calling on its members to talk publicly about what our country should be like in 2067, our bicentennial year, #MyCanada2067.

For the 10th annual Forward Together lecture, join Dr. Vianne Timmons, Dr. John Meehan SJ, Dr. Bryan Hillis, and Dr. Mark Dockstator as they engage in a panel discussion on what universities will look like – or perhaps won’t look like! – 50 years from now.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to hear four post-secondary presidents discuss their vision for the future will address a difficult but compelling question:

 Will universities exist in 2067?

The Forward Together Lecture series was established in 2009 by the presidents of the University of Regina, Campion College, First Nations University of Canada and Luther College to highlight the four institutions’ joint commitment to inclusiveness, understanding, social justice, and human rights. Past lecturers include Chilean Carlos Reyes-Manzo, Canadian singer/songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie, Palestinian physician and peace advocate Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, and The Reverend Father Gregory J. Boyle (aka Father Greg), founder of Homeboy Industries.

Catch up with old classmates and meet other U of R graduates at the post-lecture reception. Build your career connections with meaningful engagement in the community. We look forward to seeing you there. Get ready for a stimulating conversation as we discuss the future of universities.
