The University of Regina Rams had two players selected in the 2020 CFL Draft on Thursday night including offensive lineman Theren Churchill, who was selected in the first round by the Toronto Argonauts.

Andrew Becker was also drafted, going to the sixth round to the Montréal Alouettes.

We were thrilled to see both Theren and Andrew get drafted. Theren has been an absolute rock on the line for us these past three seasons and will be an asset to Toronto whether they leave him at tackle or move him inside. Andrew's injury this past season limited his viewing for CFL teams in his draft year, but he's back to 100% and I expect he'll have a very strong showing his first camp with Montreal,” says Rams interim head coach Mark McConkey.

Churchill is the fourth player in Rams history to be taken in the first round, joining Jason Clermont, Chris Bauman, and Brendon LaBatte after Toronto took him with the ninth overall selection. He was a mainstay for the Rams' offensive line during his three seasons at the U of R, starting all 25 of the team's games at right tackle during that time.

Becker was taken with the third pick of the sixth round, going 49th overall to Montréal. The versatile offensive lineman has significant playing time at all three interior positions, mostly at guard but also at centre. He has played in 20 games and started 18 for the Rams during his four seasons at the U of R.

Since joining Canada West in 1999, the Rams have had 34 players selected in the CFL Draft. The selection of Churchill marked the first time that Toronto has ever drafted a U of R player in the CFL Draft. Becker is the second Rams player to be drafted by Montréal and the first since Stan Van Sichem was taken by the Alouettes in 2009.
