Life Skills Advising

UR International is dedicated to helping international students with adjusting to a new academic system and cultural environment in Canada.

Our International Student Services team and Life Skills Advisors are happy to support you throughout your academic career. We believe that building and maintaining connections with our students is important to their success.

Life Skills Advisors are able to:

  • Facilitate academic support by connecting students with their faculty and Academic Advisors, in addition to providing them with the building blocks for achieving success at the UofR
  • Assist with a wide variety of non-academic needs, such as guiding students in maintaining their academic status, being of assistance in emergency situations, and answering general questions about life in Canada
  • Assist with student-related immigration questions for international visa students
  • Arrange sessions for immigration information and application purposes for international visa students
  • Facilitate, for students, the obtaining of a Saskatchewan Health Card
  • Be available to assist students with severe and/or immediate emergencies (medical, fire, accident, etc.) 24 hours a day, 7 days per week through our emergency phone line
  • Host daily drop-in advising sessions, as well as individual appointments for personalized support
