Internet Addiction in Adolescents

We welcome you to attend a presentation by Dr. Yan Deng, Visiting Professor at the University of Regina.

Dr. Yan Deng is an Assistant Professor at Marxism College, Hunan University in China. She is a master tutor of ideological and political education, and has been engaged in education for four years. Recently, she shows great research interest in adolescent network addiction.

The synopsis of the presentation is as follows:

“On the basis of previous studies and through the rational analysis of my practical experience on domestic and foreign internet addiction research, I will discuss the revolution of internet addiction. In particular, I will emphasize present situations in adolescents, whilst referring to the adolescent internet addition related concept. Furthermore, I will conduct an in-depth analysis on the causes of adolescent internet addiction, according to external environmental factors. Finally, I will introduce the “Trinity” internet addiction external integrated monitoring mechanism, which involves three aspects: family, school, and society. Through researching this theory of youth internet addiction, I will promote research practice of adolescent internet addiction.”

“通过对国内外网瘾问题研究的实践经验的理性分析,从青少年网瘾概念界定入手,探讨了青少年网瘾现状及基本类型;再从网络特性、青少年自身因素,以及外部环境因素对青少年网瘾成因进行分析;最后,从家庭、学校、社会三方面建立“三位一体”网瘾外部综合监控机制;以期通过青少年网瘾问题的理论研究,推动青少年网瘾监控和防治实践”
