On Wednesday September 20, 2017 at 12 p.m. in the Shubox Theatre, the Theatre Department and the Faculty of MAP in collaboration with UR International will present Dr. Hans Christian Stillmark's public lecture on the German playwright, novelist, filmmaker and artist Peter Weiss. Weiss is perhaps most famous in North America for his play MARAT / SADE, which won a Tony Award for the New York production by director Peter Brook, and was later made into a film by him. Peter Weiss was born in November of 1916 in Nowawes, near Potsdam Germany, and began his career in Sweden before living and publishing in East Germany.

Dr.Stillmark, from the University of Potsdam, will address his insights into Peter Weiss in various fields: Painting, film, writing, acting, and composing, and will examine the highlights of the Peter Weiss festival he organized in 2016 in Potsdam, Germany.
