Intercultural Communication Workshop: Communicating Interculturally

Session participants will be introduced to the dynamic intersection of communication and culture through discussion on the process of communication, engagement with concepts of culture and cultural values, and dialogue with peers on personal research projects perceived through an intercultural lens.

Facilitator Biography: Mr. Andrew Osborne
A proud alumnus of the University of Regina (BA `04), Andrew has pursued a dynamic career in international education abroad and higher education in Canada. He lived and worked as an English teacher in the Republic of Korea for many years before returning to Canada in 2011 to complete a Master of Arts in Intercultural and International Communication from Royal Roads University (MA `13). As a member of UR International’s Global Education Services team, Andrew supported international students as Life Skills Advisor and promoted strategic internationalization as Manager of Faculty and Graduate Student Mobility. In 2019, Andrew joined Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, enjoying terms as Manager of International Programs, Manager of Global Engagement, and Academic Advisor. Currently, Andrew is a coordinator of customized, graduate level academic programs with Executive Education at the Beedie School of Business. He also teaches intercultural communication with the Faculty of Language, Literature, and Performing Arts at Douglas College in New Westminster, British Columbia.
