learners who aspire to make a difference in the lives of others. I applaud you on your choice and am committed to work with you, your classmates, and the faculty members to assist you to achieve your academic, learning and career goals.

KHS offers three undergraduate degree programs including the Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKIN), Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies (BSRS) and the Bachelor of Health Studies (BHS). Further, Kinesiology and Health Studies partners with the Faculty of Education to offer the Joint Degrees program in which graduates achieve a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Major in Physical Literacy) and a Bachelor of Education (Major in Physical Education).

The BKIN program, which meets the Canadian Consortium of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators (CCUPEKA) accreditation standards, allows students to major in Human Kinetics (with an optional concentration in High Performance or Adaptation and Rehabilitation), Gerontology, or Health Promotion.  Graduates from this program find employment in a wide variety of sectors including social and physical rehabilitation, sport, adapted physical activity, education, fitness and high performance training, health promotion, and gerontology among others. A number of our graduates pursue post-graduate degrees with others exploring the broader health professions (e.g. physiotherapy, nursing, occupational therapy, medicine, and complementary medicine).  We have also established a partnership with Mount Royal University in Calgary, which provides us with the opportunity to offer a Bachelor Kinesiology degree with a major in Athletic Therapy. This will require the student to spend a portion of their degree program studying in Calgary.

The BSRS offers students with an opportunity to major in Sport and Recreation Management or Therapeutic Recreation and provides opportunities for a variety of exciting career opportunities. The BSRS Sport and Recreation major meets the criteria for the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), whereas graduates from the BSRS Therapeutic Recreation major are eligible to pursue international accreditation through the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

The Faculty of Kinesiology has a well-established Fieldwork Program and believes that a well-conceived experiential learning component is essential for personal and professional growth. Fieldwork is often seen as the capstone experience and enables the student to bridge between classroom and laboratory learning with the professional future.

The Faculty continues to attract a number of excellent students from throughout Saskatchewan, Canada and abroad, which results in an incredibly diverse and rich learning environment. Our students are presented with unique learning opportunities through flexible learning environments. Each of our courses is delivered in a face-to-face format with many of them also delivered either online, blended or televised thereby providing increased flexibility for students to achieve their academic, learning and career goals.  In fact, the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies has worked regularly with the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Flexible Learning (Centre for Continuing Education) to continue to add to its repertoire of innovative and unique undergraduate learning opportunities.

The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies is very proud to have a number of award winning faculty members who have been recognized locally, provincially and internationally for their research, teaching and community service.  Faculty members bring unique backgrounds, experiences, interests and passions in order to provide the best possible learning environment for students. I know you will enjoy your classes and look forward to working with each of you as you realize your academic and professional dreams.
