Dr. Paul Schwann Blue Cross Love2Live Cardiac/Chronic Disease Rehabilitation
This is a specialized program that is subsidized by the Blue Cross and in collaboration with the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region that is devoted to bettering the lives of those who have had a cardiac event or are at risk for developing one. It is an individually designed, scientifically proven, medically supervised exercise program. This program is aimed at providing our clients with the information, motivation, and support to adopt and maintain a better quality of life and improved heart-healthy lifestyle.
In-person Love 2Live Cardiac/Chronic Disease Rehabilitation Program
Cost: $240, $185 for age 65+ (Regular rate is $462. 48-60% of the program fee is subsidized by Saskatchewan Blue Cross)
-12-week in-person exercise program at the University of Regina
- exercise 3 x/wk for 1 hour with the guidance of a Clinical Exercise Physiologist
-sessions at 11am and 12pm aresupervised by an Emergency Room Physician or Cardiologist
- Access to the track and equipment in the facility
-Access to the Fitness and Lifestyle Centre outside of programming hours, if this is recommended by you therapist.
Class times
Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7am, 11am and 12pm.

  • Increase your self-confidence
  • Reduce your risk for a second event
Those who have had the following can benefit from our program:
  • COPD and other Pulmonary Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Post-COVID “long hauler” Symptoms
  • Stroke and/or TIAs
  • Parkinsons/ Multiple Sclerosis
  • Obesity
  • Cancer
  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
  • Two or more risk factors for heart disease (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking, family history etc.)
Entering the Program
An automatic referral can be sent to the CHWP through the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region (RQHR) upon discharge from the hospital. If you have not heard from us within 6 weeks of discharge, please contact us.
You may also request a referral from your Physician to join the program. Your Physician can fax the referral to us and then we will contact you.
Upon entering our program, you will have an initial consultation consisting of one hour of education/medical history administrative questions and testing. From there, another one-hour appointment will be booked to set up your individualized, medically supervised exercise program. You will also receive three months of programming through the centre which will also consist of a mid-term and final exercise evaluation. Exercise classes are one hour in length and include a group warm-up and cool-down (if appropriate for you), running or walking on our indoor track, and use of the most up-to-date cardio equipment. Your program may also include weight training.
Maintenance Program
  • After completion of the Initial program, clients may choose to join the maintenance program.
Maintenance program cost:
  • $6.76/class, $5.36/class for age 65+
All continuing programs can be paid by pre-authorized debit or credit on a monthly basis if preferred.
Clients may sign up for individual classes. If registering in 2 or more classes (days/week), you will be given an FLC pass and access to the Virtual Training.
Virtual Training- Maintenance program
Participate in your rehab class virtually from your own home, or while traveling!
The Virtual Group Class is delivered over Zoom and is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:45am.
Cost: $6.24/class
Education Component
You will also be invited by the RQHR to attend the complimentary education classes which are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am and are located in the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport Room 219 at the University of Regina. Sessions are repeated monthly. We highly recommend that you attend these education classes.

  • Risk factors and lifestyle modification

  • Stress/emotional factors

- Monthly check in Zoom appointment/call each month for 3 months (approx. 15 minutes)

In-person Home program

  • 1 hour assessment and program design
  • 15-30 min follow-up in-person or zoom/phone meeting
