My research is centred on the idea that if we work together, we will be able to figure out how we can foster healthier communities, and by extension, a healthier world. My work is community-driven, which means that the topics come from the stakeholders and are real-world issues that need real-world solutions. My work is largely qualitative and spans topics in the fields of: mental health, reproductive health, infectious diseases, health systems, vaccine hesitancy and uptake, violence, research across the lifespan, as well as the impacts of power relationships on health, such as the ongoing effects of colonialism on the health of newcomers and Indigenous peoples.

My research agenda is based on the use of organizational theory (e.g., organizational culture, strategic decision making, innovation, power) to understand and critique the functioning of amateur sport organizations. My primary research interests are in the areas of organizational culture and values. I have focused on diversity-related issues in sport organizations, including gender equity in university athletics and Aboriginal volunteers. I approach much of my research from critical feminist perspectives, with the aim of identifying and rectifying unequal power relations that perpetuate societal inequities.

Phone: 306-585-4066

Research interests

This aim is addressed through a combination of: 1) basic science research designed to improve understanding of how the central nervous system controls movement, and 2) clinical research examining how the neural control of movement is disrupted and rehabilitated after neurological damage. In this research, Cameron commonly employs techniques in neurophysiology (non-invasive brain stimulation, electromyography, neuromuscular electrical stimulation), neuroimaging (diffusion-weight imaging), robotics (KINARM Lab), and exercise physiology (indirect calorimetry).
