Important Information:

BY ALLOWING MY CHILD(REN) to participate in the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies programming, I am voluntarily agreeing to abide to these terms.  I confirm that the participant [my child] is physically and mentally able to participate in all activities of the summer programming.

Please Note:  All of our camps have children attending that are NUT sensitive.  Please do not send any nut products to our camps as it may endanger the lives of some of our participants.

Registration Policies

  1. Registrations will not be accepted without payment.  We do not accept post-dated payments for courses and/or camps.  All camps must be paid in full at the time of registration.
  2. Late registration for camps may be accepted if approved by the Recreation & Athletic Office staff and/or the program area manager.
  3. Participants must register for a camp in its entirety.  Registrations for specific days will not be accepted.  

Canceled or Changed Camps/Courses

  1. The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies has the right to cancel Summer Sports School for any reason.  If this occurs, a full refund will provided.  If there is a comparable program, we will make every effort to notify the participants of complementary programs that may be of interest. 
  2. If an instructor is unavailable for a class or is unable to continue instructing the course, we will make every effort to arrange a substitute instructor of our choosing.  In the case where it is not possible to arrange for a substitute instructor and the class is canceled for that week, every effort will be made to reschedule a make up class.  If the class is canceled in its entirety, a prorated refund will be provided. 
  3. All days, times and instructors are subject to change.  The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due to insufficient enrolment.  If a class is canceled or a class is combined with another class and the student is unable to attend on the new day and time, a refund will be provided.

Photography or Videography

The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies reserves the right to photograph, videotape all courses/camps and use the pictures/sounds for marketing publicity purposes. Should you wish that your photo or the image or your child’s photo or image not be used in the promotional materials, please inform the Recreation & Athletic Services office at time of registration or call 306.585.4371.

Wait Lists

If a program is full, a participant may request to have his/her name added to a wait list. If a spot becomes available, the registration staff will contact the participant at the top of the waitlist by phone and/or by email. The participant contacted to fill an available spot will be given one business day in which to respond, after which time the space in the class will be automatically offered to the next person on the waiting list. 

Note:  There is one waiting list per full class; students may join multiple waiting lists.

What to Bring to Camp

  1. Participants should come to camp dressed for a full day of activity.  We recommend outdoor activity clothing and athletic shoes.  Please survey what your child brings to camp in the morning to avoid lost items.  Please dress your child according to the weather of the day. 
  2. Water Bottle:  Parents are asked to send a water bottle each day labeled with your child’s name.  The children can refill the bottle at our water fountains.
  3. Sun Block & Bug Spray:  You child will participate in outdoor activities everyday (weather permitting).  Please apply on your child prior to arrival to camp.  The instructors will not apply sunscreen &/or bug spray. 
    1. Swimming Gear:  Please pack a swimsuit if your child is registered in a camp that has a swimming component. Towels will be provided.
    2. Gym Bag/Backpack:  Please label with your child’s name.

Please Note:  Items such as video games are not appropriate for Summer Sports School or during extended program times.

Arriving at Summer Sport School

  1. Check in Procedures:  For safety reasons, all participants must be signed in and signed out by the parent/guardian.  If sending your child with someone else, please advise the Recreation & Athletic Services office at 306.585.4371.  The sign in table is located in Gym 3 in the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.  Campers will only be permitted to leave with the person authorized to pick them up.
  2. Late Arrivals:  It is important that campers arrive each day by 8:30 a.m. The programming begins promptly.  Should you arrive later than 8:30, please go to the Recreation & Athletic Services office to find your assigned group.
  3. Parking:  Complimentary parking for drop off and pick up has been arranged in Lot 4 from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.  Should you receive a parking ticket outside of these hours, no appeals will be received. 
  4. Early Departures:  Should you need to pick your child up early, please inform your child’s group instructor.

Departure Procedures

 For safety reasons, all participants must be signed out by the parent/guardian or authorized person.  The sign out table is located in Gym 3 of the Centre of Kinesiology, Health & Sport. Participants will only be permitted to leave with the person authorized to pick them up. Anyone picking up a participant will be required to show photo ID.  

Extended Hours

Extended hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.  There are no planned activities during this time. 

Withdrawals & Refunds

  1. There will be a 10% administration fee for all refunds requested with at least 8 working days notice.
  2. A 50% administration fee will be assessed for refunds requested within 7 working days of the camp/league start date.
  3. No refunds will be issued after the start of any course/camp unless it falls under the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies exceptional withdrawal/refund policies.
  4. Refunds may be issued for relocation withdrawals away from Regina or surrounding areas.  A pro-rated refund, less the $10.00 administrative fee will be provided effective the day the Recreation & Athletic Services is notified of the withdrawal.
  5. Refunds may be issued for medical withdrawals with a supporting doctor’s note only if the participant cannot continue for the remainder of the course/camp. 
  6. A doctor’s note is required for all refunds due to medical refunds.  A pro-rated refund, less the $10.00 administrative fee will be provided effective the day the Recreation & Athletic Services staff is notified of the withdrawal. 
  7. A supporting doctor's note must be received by the Recreation & Athletic Services Office within 10 days of notification of the medical withdrawal for courses and within 5 working days for camps/leagues. 
  8. To withdraw from a course, please contact Recreation & Athletic Services at 585-4371. 
  9. Any disputes will be dealt with by the Recreation & Athletic Services Manager and/or the program manager.  The manager’s decision is final.

Medical Information & Medication

If your child requires prescription medications (including Asthma Inhalers) or carries Epi-Pens, these will be carried by the child. Please speak to the camp director and/or your child's instructor to ensure that they know where it is in the back pack. 

 Please ensure that you sign and return the Medical Information form located on the Recreation & Athletic Services office or the Recreation website at www.uregina.ca/recservices . It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to record and sign the Medical Form indicating the child’s medical information.  Please return the form to the Recreation & Athletic Services office prior to the first day of your camp.  If medical concerns are indicated at registration, your child(ren) will not be able to participate unless the signed document is returned. 

I understand that it is my responsibility to release any medical information that I believe the University of Regina staff should be aware of for the child.  I understand and agree that the University of Regina will store this medical information and disclose this medical information as required to appropriate staff.  

Privacy Policy

I understand that the University of Regina collects and creates student information ("personal information") under the authority of The University of Regina Act, and in accordance with The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Saskatchewan) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada), for purposes of recruitment, admission, registration, and the administration of the University and its programs and services.  Some of this information may be reported as required by federal or provincial authority.

Accidents & Emergencies

If your child is injured, you will be notified following notification of the appropriate emergency personnel.  Summer Sport School staff will administer first aid as required.  The Summer Sports School staff, in conjunction with the supervisor, if available, will make decisions regarding further medical care.  All of our instructors have their CPR and First Aid designation.  By your child’s participation in the Summer Sports School, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions on the waiver (see below).

Illness

If your child should become ill while at camp, you will be notified.  We are not equipped to deal with sick children so we ask for your discretion in bringing your child to camp if he/she is ill.

Food

We do not have a meal plan for Summer Sports School.  Please pack a lunch and snacks for the full day Summer Sport School programs.  Children attending half day programs should bring a snack.  Please note:  We do not have refrigeration available however, we do have microwaves.  We have a busy active schedule so please ensure that your child has a substantial breakfast and are hydrated. 

Valuables

Participants are asked to leave all valuables at home.  We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items while at camp.

Discipline

It is our mission to provide a healthy, safe, secure and respectful environment for all participants and instructors.  All participants are expected to follow the behaviour guidelines and interact appropriately in a group setting.  Please review the following behaviour guidelines with your child(ren) prior to attending.

All children are expected to participate in the scheduled activities and follow the directions of the staff at all times.

  • Children are expected to stay with their group at all times.
  • Children must be respectful, honest and considerate of other participants and staff.
  • Children must be respectful of the property of the University of Regina and of other participants.
  • The use of profanity, vulgarity, or acting a lewd manner will not be tolerated and may be cause for immediate expulsion.
  • Verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated and may be cause for immediate expulsion. 
  • Stealing or damaging property of staff or other participants will not be tolerated and may be cause for immediate expulsion.

The staff will redirect the child to more appropriate behaviour.  If the behaviour continues, the child will be sent to the Summer Sports School office and reminded of the rules.  If necessary, the office will contact the child’s parent/guardian informing them of the incident(s).  If the behaviour continues, the parent will be contacted immediately and be asked to pick up their child.  Summer Sports School reserves the right to ask a parent to pick up a child early, temporarily suspend a child or in extreme cases, expel the child.  If the child is expelled, a pro-rated refund will be provided.

Program Waiver

I hereby give consent for myself or my child's participation in the programming at the Centre for Continuing Education, the University of Regina Rams, and the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies. I understand that there are inherent risks participating in any physical activity or programs and I agree that the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies, the University of Regina Rams, the Centre for Continuing Education, nor the University of Regina will be held liable for any injury to myself or my child, or loss or damage to my child's or my personal property.  In consideration of my participation or my child's in any programming, I, the parent/guardian of the child, or myself, on my own behalf and/or on behalf of my child, waive all present and future claims against the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Regina Rams, The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies, the University of Regina, and its directors, Board of Governors, employees, officers, servants, representatives, insurers and agents (and their respective successors and assigns)  (collectively, the "Releases") and hereby release the Releases from and against all liabilities, claims, actions, demands, costs and expenses relating to injury, illness, death, loss, damage to person or property or loss of property, foreseen or unforeseen, howsoever caused (including negligence of any one or more of the Releases), arising out of or in connection with my child's or my participation in any programming.  I, on my own behalf and on behalf of my child, also agree to indemnify the Releases for, on account of or by reason of any claim advanced against any of them, or any loss or damage sustained by them, arising out of my child's or my participation in any programming.

In case of emergency regarding my child or myself, I understand every effort will be made to contact next of kin.  In the event that no one can be reached in an emergency situation, I hereby give permission to licensed emergency and health care personnel to provide treatment/services necessary to maintain the health of my child or myself.   In the event of medication, medical advice, treatment and/or equipment are required; I agree to accept financial responsibility for fees in excess of provincial and or private medical insurance.  I agree that the information on this form may be disclosed to such emergency and health care personnel.  In the event of illness, accident, emergency, or any other circumstance requiring medical treatment, such treatment may be procured for the participant without legal or financial obligation to the University.
