More than 400 people packed Darke Hall on Oct. 27 for A Taste of Research 2026: Feed Your Curiosity, an evening celebrating the remarkable research happening at the University of Regina.

Nine researchers took the stage to share their work in engaging, accessible presentations spanning brain health, sustainable agriculture, Indigenous aesthetic histories, teacher well-being, vocal health, the Earth’s geological past, systemic racism in education, orbital AI data centres, and missing persons.

From master’s students and PhD candidates to early-career, mid-career, and established faculty members, the presenters came together to explain how they’re addressing the complexities of life today, as well as the impacts their work is having in Saskatchewan and beyond.

The evening also featured a special musical performance by PhD candidate Andrea McCulloch, whose research explores how singing training could help physicians strengthen their speaking voices. She was accompanied by composer David McIntyre.

Each presentation offered a fresh perspective, plenty of food for thought, and revealed the many distinct and rigorous forms research can take. And, while the research topics that were explored spanned a wide range of fields, together, they showcased the breadth and depth of research at the U of R and helped to deepen the audience’s understanding of our universe – from outer space to deep underground, and so much in-between.
