As a new student, you might be unsure of where to start, so we put together a checklist of things to do before classes begin to make sure you’re ready for your first semester at the U of R!

1. Set up your webmail

All new students will receive their own U of R Webmail address. You can access this email account the day after you have registered for courses for the first time.

This is where you will receive all official U of R communications, so be sure to check it often, especially at the beginning of each semester!

To access your student webmail account, you will need to find your username and activate your account.

For more information about your U of R student accounts, login information, and passwords, visit the Information Services page on uregina.ca.

2. Register for orientation

Fall 2022 orientation is the best way to kick-start your first semester! Join U of R faculty and staff, as well as over 1,000 other new students, on Tuesday, August 30 as you prepare for your first day of classes.

This orientation will help you familiarize yourself with campus, get to know your faculty, meet your peers, and more!

Did we mention you can also win some great prizes throughout the event?

You can register for the new student orientation here. There is also an adult learner orientation and a family & supporter orientation.

3. Check out Welcome Weekend

Before you start classes, get to know other students and familiarize yourself with the U of R at Welcome Weekend 2022!

Welcome Weekend events are taking place from Friday, August 26 to Monday, August 29, with Orientation Day on Tuesday, August 30.

Some of the events include a Beach Party, afternoon games at Willow Island on Wascana Lake, a local cover band concert, wheelchair basketball, trivia, the famous Sharpie Party on the Green, and tons more!

Make sure you follow the U of R on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for more info about Welcome Weekend.

You can also check out the University of Regina Students’ Union’s (URSU) website to find out about the student centres located on campus, services offered by URSU, campus clubs, and events.

4. Get your student ID card

Student ID cards are needed to access a variety of services available to students around campus.

Visit the Registrar’s Office page to find out how to get your new U of R Student ID Card so you can access the library or work out at the Fitness and Lifestyle Centre – and you can’t write your final exams without it!
