New Music Ensemble in Concert

Mon., Apr. 10, 2017 7:30 p.m. - Mon., Apr. 10, 2017 9:00 p.m.

New Music Ensemble in Concert

The University of Regina New Music Ensemble presents a concert featuring improvisation, classic works of the 20th century, and brand new compositions.

This semester, we feature two new works by Ensemble member Evelyn Tischer. "Prairie Winter" takes us through typical scenes of fall and winter, all created in sound by the ensemble. "Kaleidoscope" features layers of sound, with repeated figures that will form new combinations each time the work is played.

The ensemble will also perform a work by Earle Brown, an important part of the New York School from the 1960s; and will present new works by students from Dr. Alain Perron's composition class. Free improvisation will take the audience on a new journey, featuring the creativity and imagination of the players involved.

Everyone is welcome to join us as we open our ears for this exciting concert. Come enjoy new sounds! Admission is FREE
