FNUniv 39th Annual Spring Powwow

Sat., Apr. 8, 2017 12:00 p.m. - Sun., Apr. 9, 2017 11:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 8th, 2017 and Sunday April 9th, 2017, Brandt Centre, Regina, SK.

Our University pow-wow is a ceremony and an opportunity to share our First Nations culture with the rest of the world. It is also a celebration of spring to recognize this joyous time of year. We are thankful for having seen another winter pass and look forward to the rebirth of our Mother Earth.

The First Nations University of Canada Pow-wow is one of the longest and largest running celebrations in Saskatchewan. Our students began this celebration more than 39 years ago and they still play a significant leadership role in hosting the event.

Everyone is welcome! The event is alcohol free and is targeted at families and spectators (Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal) visitors of all ages. This come-and-go event has exciting and colorful performances that run continuously throughout the afternoon and evening, beginning with our Grand Entry at 12:00 noon on Saturday and Sunday and closing with a “retiring of the flags” ceremony at about midnight each night. This year we have a number of specials including tiny-tot initiations, adult dance competitions and hand-drum contests.

If you are interested in volunteering, we need more volunteers to sign up, particularly for both Saturday and Sunday shifts for 50/50 Selling!

Benefits of Volunteering: Free Admission for the day you volunteer, complimentary meal(s) from the Traditional Food Booth, Volunteer Appreciation Night and more!!!
