October 22: Shamim Aghaaminiha, Shima Aghaaminiha & Brandon Watson

Shamim Aghaaminiha works mostly in ceramics but is also interested in creating conceptual installations, making sculptures, and using performance art to convey her concerns. She received a Bachelor in Handicrafts from Tehran University of Art and is currently an MFA student at the University of Regina.

Shima Aghaaminiha is a ceramic artist whose work extends to sculpture and installation. She earned her BFA degree in handicraft from Tehran University of Art. Aghaaminiha was born and raised in Iran, and its patriarchal religious system informs her work. Human rights issues such as freedom of speech and beliefs and feminism are the main subjects of her artworks.

Brandon Watson is a Creative Technologist from Regina, Saskatchewan. His research interests focus on using Maker Culture and People Centered Design to improve accessibility and promote design using the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Brandon is an avid lawn bowler and a member of the Bowls Canada National Team.

Please register in advance through Eventbrite. The same Zoom link will be used for both the October 22nd and 29th MFA Art For Lunch events. The Zoom link will be in the Additional Information section at the bottom of your confirmation email from Eventbrite.

Art For Lunch is a free speaker series presented by the Department of Visual Art and the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance. Speakers are local, national, and international artists, arts administrators and curators. This fall, all Art For Lunch events will take place on Zoom.
