Department of English OMAD Presentation

Fri., Oct. 15, 2021 3:30 p.m. - Fri., Oct. 15, 2021 6:00 p.m.

The Saskatchewan Writers Guild has recently published an anthology devoted to the ways writers in Saskatchewan have experienced the COVID pandemic. Titled apart: a year of poetry and prose, the volume features numerous writers closely associated with the Department of English. The poetry section was edited by Courtney Bates-Hardy, a poet and graduate of the Creative Writing MA. Other graduates from the English department who have material in the anthology include Chelsea Coupal (poetry) and Tanisha Khan (short fiction). Faculty members Medrie Purdham (poetry) and Michael Trussler (creative non-fiction) also contributed to the book. For this OMAD discussion, Courtney will describe the editorial process and readings will follow, along with a general discussion of the literary response to the pandemic. Literature is among the finest ways of discerning the nature of contemporary experience, and this OMAD will illuminate the various ways the pandemic has been felt and witnessed by colleagues and former students of the University of Regina. All are welcome to this virtual event.
