Why Study Abroad?

The Government of Canada has eased some restrictions on international travel and lifted its level-3 advisory to avoid non-essential travel to most countries. Canada is now at Level 2, which advises travellers to practise precautions based on their country of destination.

In response to this, UR International is pleased to announce that the institutional international travel restrictions has now been lifted, and is happy to support studetns pursuing outbound mobility starting from Spring/Summer 2022, which encompasses:

    • Regular study abroad exchange programs
    • Short-term programs abroad
    • International practicum, internship, and fieldwork placements
    • Faculty-led study tours or short-term programs abroad
    • Faculty approved international conferences or consortium

Furthermore, the UR Study Abroad & Global Mobility team has implemented additional risk management and safety measures for UofR students participating in in-person mobility for spring 2022 and beyond.

These measures include a COVID-19 specific safety training, as well as the completion of a mandatory safety training booklet with accompanying exercises, in addition to our pre-existing pre-departure services and procedures provided to all UR Study Abroad participants.

*Please note that for research-related travel, graduate students are required to consult the VPR's research travel guidelines and policies

Graduate students who are wishing to conduct travel outside of Canada that is essential to their research can contact the Associate Vice-President Research*
