Message from the Dean of Media, Art, and Performance

The Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance offers a range of study offerings in Creative Technologies, Interdisciplinary Programs, Film, Music, Visual Arts, and Theatre. Undergraduate students learn to develop an emerging art practice, honing technical, aesthetic and conceptual skills. Students may also pursue historical, theoretical or critical studies in the fine arts. Graduate students are able to focus on creating a coherent body of work that will help establish their professional careers in the arts, or pursue thesis research that will enable career opportunities in education or the cultural industries. We provide excellent facilities for studios, labs, exhibitions, rehearsals, performances and research. Students quickly become part of a creative cohort and have the opportunity to work closely with a talented faculty, who all are practicing artists, performers, designers, directors, and published scholars. As well, our dedicated staff endeavor to provide a positive student experience.

Training in the fine arts goes well beyond a studio, lab, or stage. We teach students, for example, how to work as collaborative teams, or how to be ethical and active members of their community. This small dynamic faculty offers a nurturing pedagogical atmosphere on a beautiful campus, thus making us an ideal study destination.

For decades the Faculty has been a signature area of the University, training and employing many notable artists. Countless graduates have gone on to become ambassadors for Saskatchewan as professional artists, writers, directors, producers, performers and designers in the cultural and media industries, or educators, scholars, curators, arts consultants, and community and business leaders.

We invite you to explore our website and consider the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance as your top study choice.
