Bio
Professor Rae Staseson, Dean of Fine Arts, is a media artist and curator. Her work has been exhibited internationally in more than fourteen countries and is represented in several collections, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Saskatchewan Arts Board. Staseson’s work has screened at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), the Walker Art Center, the National Gallery of Canada, Power Plant, Knitting Factory, Mendel Art Gallery, and Harvard Film Archive. Her research-creation has been supported by numerous provincial and federal granting agencies, including SSHRC. She is a research member of the Mobile Media Lab at Concordia University. For the last decade, the focus of her work has been a series of video and sound projections tracing themes of home, site/place and memory. Staseson opened, directed, and curated for Concordia’s Media Gallery, hosting innovative exhibitions by local, national, and international media artists. In 2010, she was a visiting scholar at the Multimedia University in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, where a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Concordia and MMU. Most recently, she contributed to Thinking With Water (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2013).
