Playwriting: A Risky Business - Floyd Favel

Mr. Favel is a theatre director, playwright, essayist, and Cree traditionalist based in Saskatchewan.  He studied theatre in Denmark and Italy and since then has worked across Canada.  He has been presented in such venues as the National Museum of the American Indian, Denver Art Museum, Museum of Civilization, the Canada Dance Festival, the Globe Theatre, Ondinnok Theatre and the National Arts Centre.

His essays have been published by Lakota Country Times, The Globe and Mail, Native Peoples Magazine, Navajo Times, Indigenous Times, Playwrights Canada Press and Alt Theatre.  He has been conducting research and developing an Indigenous theatre practice and has travelled the world in so doing, this practice he calls 'Native Performance Culture'.  He is collecting his essays in a book entitled, "The Artificial Tree".  He is currently at work on producing an independent feature film called "Sweet Cherry Wine".
