ORLANDO: Theatre Departments presents innovative staging of classic Virginia Woolf novel.

“Orlando was a man till the age of thirty, when he became a woman and has remained so ever since.” Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel Orlando: A Biography, which was dramatized by Sarah Ruhl in 2010, is a love letter to her romantic partner, Vita Sackville-West, as a time-travelling exploration of gender. Our production will embrace the playful nature of the text as we devised our version for the 21st century.

In a time when 2SLGBTQ+ identities are under threat around the world, returning to this classic romance as a celebration of sexuality and gender diversity is an act of resilience and defiance. The Theatre Department is proud present this important piece of queer literature in its theatrical form.

Fun, surprising, and highly theatrical, the Department of Theatre’s production of Orlando will be a warm embrace of self in the cold months of a Regina winter.
