Undergraduate Studies

Bachelor Degree Programs

Our department offers a range of programs for undergraduate students.

New students are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor, who will work with you to plan your first four semesters of study.

Senior course offerings follow a general two-year schedule (PDF) rotation.

B.Sc Honours in Physics

The BSc Honours program is more specialized than the BSc Major Program and provides solid preparation for those intending to proceed to graduate school in physics.

B.Sc Major in Physics

The BSc Major in Physics degree is intended for students who wish to study physics as part of a general education, or to combine physics with other disciplines to pursue a career in other areas.

Co-op B.Sc. Honours in Physics

The co-op program is intended to give students exposure to a wide variety of areas in pure and applied physics, to help prepare them for future career options.

Minor in Physics

Physics nicely complements other major fields of study because physics is a broad subject in which the student is exposed to a wide variety of problems.

Co-op B.Sc. Applied Physics

The U of R and participating industrial employers work together to provide an education with hands-on experience in the real world.

Bachelor of Medical Radiation Technology (BMRT)

Medical Radiation Technology includes disciplines of Medical Radiological Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Magnetic Resonance Technology, and Medical Radiation Therapy.

Honours Thesis

Physics 498 must be taken by all honours physics students, and by applied physics cooperative students in one semester of their final year of study. Students are required to attend all seminars and to present an oral presentation and written report on a topic determined in consultation with the PHYS 498/499 coordinator.
