Canada Access Grant (CAG)

A student who self-declares a permanent disability on their student loan application is required to provide documentation from a qualified professional to verify the disability. With a verified permanent disability, a student is eligible to receive the Canada Access Grant, which provides up to $2000 per academic year to cover any financial need, including living costs. This grant is not repayable and students are not required to submit receipts to account for costs covered by the grant. This grant is not available retroactively if a student does not declare and verify a disability prior to submitting a Schedule 1 form (issued after a student loan is approved).

Canada Study Grant (CSG)

Students with permanent disabilities who qualify for a student loan may also apply for a Canada Study Grant (Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Permanent Disabilities). This grant provides up to $10,000 per academic year to pay for the costs of equipment and services required related to a particular disability. An Accessibility Advisor will assist in the completion of disability-related grant applications.

Additional Funding Opportunities

Students who do not qualify for student loan funding should consult with their Accessibility Advisor regarding additional provincial funding opportunities.
