Holds

Various holds are put on your account for different reasons. Some of the most common, and what to do about them, are listed below. For all other holds, contact your faculty office for what they may be and to see if any action is required on your part.

Academic Advising Required

All students are required to come see an academic advisor at least once in their academic career. Whether you are a brand new student, or just new to a different faculty, you need to come in for advising. This is the make sure you understand your program and are on the right track for eventual graduation. Call 585-4199 or stop by LB 238 (or your federated college if applicable) to book an advising session.

Academic Probation

All students within the Faculty of Science are required to maintain a minimum UGPA of 60%. If you have attempted 24 credit hours, and your UGPA falls below 60%, you are placed on academic probation. For further details, and to be able to register for courses, contact 585-4199 or stop by LB 238 (or your federated college if applicable) to book an academic advising session.

Disciplinary Proceedings

If an item of term work or exam you have submitted has been called into question of it being your own original work, and any violation of academic integrity your instructor may contact the Associate Dean of his/her faculty to review the work. While disciplinary action and appeal are in progress, you may have this hold placed on your account. If you would like it to be removed so you can make changes to your account, you would need to approach the University Secretariat to do so.

Conditions on Registration

Along with coming to see an advisor, there may be further conditions placed on your account prior to you being able to register. For further details, and to be able to register for courses, contact 585-4199 or stop by LB 238 (or your federated college if applicable) to book an academic advising session.

RTD from Faculty

If you have been Required to Discontinue from your faculty, you won't be eligible to register until you have successfully transferred to a different Faculty, or until you have been re-admitted on petition or appeal. If you believe you are eligible to register, stop by your current faculty to discuss having the hold lifted, or the steps you need to take to be able to register.

Financial Hold over $2000

In order to clear the hold, you are required to pay the full amount owing or at least enough to bring the total down to less than $2000. If you have questions about the balance on your account, visit Financial Services (2nd floor of the Administration Humanities Building) or your Federated College.

Re-Admission Required

If you haven't taken a course for 3 semesters, your student account falls inactive, and you must re-apply to take any courses, even if you don't plan on working toward a degree. You can fill out the Re-admission and Faculty Transfer Application to be re-admitted to the University of Regina.

Admission Documents Required

If there are any outstanding documents that were required for you to be admitted, you may see this hold. Examples include final High School or College/University transcripts. Visit UR International (College West) if you are here on a student permit or the main Admissions office (Administration-Humanities Building) to discuss which documents are still required.
