Wine, politics and rock ‘n roll are just some of the topics featured at the Lifelong Learning Centre’s Open House, November 24.

“We want to let people know what we have to offer this winter,” says Kerrie Strathy, Division Head of Lifelong Learning Centre.

The Open House will include these sessions:

  • Noon          Private or public: Economic thoughts on liquor stores and other government businesses
  • 1:30           Keeping Democracy Safe
  • 2:30           Tours
  • 6:00           Aromas and Wine
  • 6:30           Keeping plants alive in winter
  • 7:00           Seeing the universe from Saskatchewan

The first 100 people to attend will receive a free gift and a chance to win a free Lifelong Learning Centre course.

Lifelong Learning Centre
A number of fitness classes are available through Lifelong Learning Centre including yoga (beginners and advanced) T’ai Chi and stretch and tone. Check the Winter 2017 Guide here for more programming information.
The centre is now operating out of its temporary location at 2151 Scarth Street, while renovations take place at College Avenue Campus.

“It has worked out quite well,” says Strathy. “We have nice bright classrooms with windows. Our large classroom and second largest classrooms have built-in audio-visual equipment. We like the space here but we are looking forward to moving back to the revitalized College Avenue Campus in two years.”

The Centre’s programming caters to a wide variety of interests with daytime, evening and Saturday courses offered.

“It’s a great way to learn,” says Strathy. “We provide opportunities for people to learn in a positive environment. There are no exams or essays and no homework to speak of. Some courses naturally require practice at home such as our language classes and our creative writing classes. But there is no pressure and no marking.”
