Faculty and staff, along with leadership, Board members, Senate members and retirees opened their hearts and together helped raise more than $428,000 through Big Hearts Family Giving

“The purpose of Big Hearts Family Giving is to foster a culture of philanthropy among members of the U of R family, showing that we are proud of our students and our University, and that they are worthy of support,” said Dr. Thomas Chase, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina. “With so many people contributing to such a wide variety of initiatives, I am delighted with how successful the campaign was.”

With Big Hearts Family Giving, donors had the choice to give to where their passion is.

One particular area of support was the Student Success Fund, a new fund to attract students with great potential to the U of R and to ensure our students have the support they need to succeed. The Student Success Fund provides scholarships and awards to students with the drive to not only succeed in their studies but to also give back to the community in meaningful ways.

Projects in all faculties received donations, as did the Dr. John Archer Library and Cougar Athletics. There were also donations to support new and existing student awards and bursaries, research, and the area of greatest need at the U of R.

Every single donation will have an immediate impact on students as they strive to achieve their academic endeavours.

“I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the donors who participated in Big Hearts Family Giving,” Chase said. “You have confirmed our strong resolve to support our academic mission, especially the students who are the lifeblood of the University of Regina.”
