Online Safety Courses


Below are the online safety courses and mandatory in-person workshops currently offered by Health and Safety:

2.  Biosafety Awareness (includes mandatory in-person workshop) 8.  Consumable Radiation Safety
3.  Chemical & Lab Safety (includes mandatory in-person workshop) 9.  Safety for Protective Services and First Responders
4.  UofR Emergency Warden 10.  Teaching Assistant (Modules 1 & 2)
5.  Exposure Control
11.  WHMIS (LAB) - student
6.  Lab Safety for FM Workers and Contractors 12.  WHMIS in the Workplace-Staff

*Participants may request Chemical & Lab Safety AND Biosafety Awareness online courses at the same time.

Email requests for online course registration will not be accepted.

  

♦ An email confirming your registration for online safety courses will be sent to your official UofR email address.

♦ Health and Safety does not monitor emails on weekends, evenings, or statutory holidays.

 

Chemical & Lab Safety Online Course and Mandatory Workshop


Participants registered for the Chemical & Lab Safety (CLS) safety course, must successfully complete the online course (UR Courses) to be eligible to register for a CLS mandatory in-person workshop (WHMIS exam included). 

Information on how to register for a mandatory CLS workshop will be provided to participants on the CLS course (UR Courses).

CLS mandatory in-person workshops have a maximum of ten (10) participants.  The Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science, and Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies encourage participants to successfully complete the CLS online course and mandatory in-person workshop as soon as possible. 

Failure to do so  may result in being denied access to teaching and research space(s) that require the completion of the Chemical & Lab Safety course.

Fall 2024


Wednesday, September 18, 2024 - 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Tuesday, October 8, 2024 - 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
Wednesday, October 23, 2024 - 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Health and Safety must receive your workshop email request 24 hours prior to the workshop date/time.

Workshops cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control and/or low enrollment will be rescheduled as soon as possible.


Biosafety Awareness Online Course and Mandatory Workshop


Participants registered for both Chemical & Lab Safety (CLS) AND Biosafety Awareness safety courses, must successfully complete both online courses (UR Courses) AND successfully complete the in-person CLS mandatory workshop to be eligible to register for a Biosafety Awareness in-person mandatory workshop.

Information on how to register for a mandatory Biosafety Awareness workshop will be provided to participants on the Biosafety Awareness/CLS courses (UR Courses).

Biosafety Awareness workshops have a maximum of six (6) participants.  The Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science, and Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Sciences encourage participants to successfully complete the online courses and mandatory workshops for Chemical & Lab Safety and Biosafety Awareness as soon as possible. 

Failure to do so may result in being denied access to teaching and research space(s) that require the completion of Chemical & Lab Safety and Biosafety Awareness courses

Monday, October 7, 2024 -
2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Friday, October 25, 2024 - 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
