Each year, Campus Beautification Day provides an opportunity for members of the campus community to volunteer a couple hours of their time and get outside to enhance the environment of the U of R’s main and College Avenue Campuses, as well as Campion and Luther Colleges and First Nations University of Canada.

It’s also an opportunity to bring faculty and staff together outdoors for some conversation and exercise to kick off the summer months.

Led by U of R Campus Security, the annual Campus Beautification Day returned for its fifth edition after being put on hold the last two years due to the pandemic.

More than 150 faculty and staff members spent part of the morning raking up debris, spreading mulch, and doing other light clean-up tasks around our buildings.

Following the clean-up, volunteers gathered for an appreciation lunch and to hear a few words from U of R President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jeff Keshen.

“My sincere thanks go out to everyone who graciously volunteered their time to help beautify our campuses today – and to those who organized the clean-up,” said Dr. Keshen. “As individuals and as a collective, you take great pride in our facilities and their location in the beautiful Wascana Centre and it was inspiring for me to share with you in the responsibility of keeping our ‘park within Wascana Park’ clean and preserving its beauty.”

Members of the campus community put in some serious work and our campus is back in tip-top shape for the spring/summer semester.
