The hallways were humming on the first day of classes as the number of students enrolled at the University grew to 15,475.

“This is our 10th consecutive year of enrolment growth for the University and it is such a pleasure to see students full of the excitement and energy only the start of the school year can bring,” says University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vianne Timmons. “We recognize that students have a lot of options when it comes to choosing a post-secondary institution and we appreciate, and continue to work at, being their institution of choice.”

Just some of the initiatives focused on supporting students include: reopening of College Avenue Campus and College West Residence; adding new faculty positions to meet the growth in student demand; developing more on-line courses and blended learning and distance learning opportunities; and implementing a new smoke-free campus policy.

“I want to welcome all students and I encourage you to take advantage of all of the opportunities the University has to offer: join a club, participate in sporting events, volunteer and get involved in your students’ union,” says Timmons. “These extra-curricular activities will enhance your post-secondary experience and help build a stronger, more vibrant University community.”
