iPrint/Papercut Setup for macOS

Procedure to setup an iPrint Printer

1. Open your web broswer, navigate to http://iprint.uregina.ca/ipp/

2. If this is your first time setting up an iPrint printer. Click on 'Install iPrint Client'.

3. Save the installation file.

4. Double click the 'iprint.dmg' disk image. Double click the 'iPrint.pkg' installer.

5. Click Continue, select your installation disk, click Continue, click Install.

6. You will be required to enter your macOS username/password (Note: This is not necessarily your uregina.ca username/password).
When the installation finishes, click Close.

7. Return to your web browser. Navigate back to http://iprint.uregina.ca/ipp/
Select your desired printer from the list.

8. If you have not installed the printer before, you will be prompted to install. Click OK.
Your printer is now installed. You can select it from the print menu in any application.

Procedure to install PaperCut Client

If you will have multiple financial accounts to choose from(almost all staff will) then you need to also install the PaperCut client as follows:

  1. Start and Log into the Mac computer. Ensure it's connected to the network.
  2. Open the Finder.
  3. From the Go menu, select Connect to Server....
  4. Enter the pcclient share's connection details as: smb://papercut.uregina.ca/pcclient

  6. Move into the 'mac' directory. Copy the PCC client application icon to the applications folder. This will execute a small AppleScript program that will commence the install/copy process.                                                                                                   File
  7. You may come across this error, go to Sytem preferences>security & privacy>unlock the advanced using Mac log in id then enable "App Store and identified developers" for PCC Client.                                                                                                                                             iprintMacOSCat5
  8. Go to applications and then click on the PCC client icon you may get an error again but the log in screen for PCC client will pop up for you to log in to PaperCut. This error is caused due to the new Catalina apple script conflict which will be fixed when the new version of papercut client is updated.

Now add the papercut application to automatically open at startup:

  1. Open System Preference... from the Apple menu.
  2. Select Users and Groups (icon of people)
  3. Select your login account
  4. Click the Login Items tab
  5. Click the + button and browse and locate the PCClient application
  6. Test by restarting the computer. The client should automatically after the reboot and login is complete.
